Enable Synaptics Multitouch Gestures in Google Chrome

Synaptics is one of the primary manufacturers of touch pads for laptops, and most recent Synaptics touch pads support multitouch gestures. The three-finger-swipe gesture allows users to navigate forward and backward in the browser (and other programs, like PowerPoint and Windows Image Viewer) using the touchpad. With the default settings, this gesture will only work in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. In order to enable the gestures in Google Chrome, several registry values must be added. These are all included in the .reg file under downloads. Once the registry patch has been applied, restarting the touchpad drivers manually or by logging off and back on will enable the gestures in chrome. The batch file in the downloads will apply the registry changes and restart the touchpad drivers automatically, and will also check that the installation was successful. On some systems, a restart may be required. For more details, read this blog post.
